Emotional well-being workshops for teachers and parents.
The Power of Secure Attachments: Nurturing Emotional Well-being in Children

If we are to understand and support the behavioural challenges of children, we should be able to understand how their behaviour expresses their emotions. Children in their early years are on their way to becoming who they are, and it is our response and modelling of behaviour that builds their self-regulation skills. Effective co-regulation leads to effective self-regulation.

My training as a child counsellor while working as an early years teacher has been an invaluable journey and has had a great impact on my everyday practice and understanding of children's emotional well-being. As a child counsellor and a parenting coach, I have been trained in creating meaningful relationships with the children I work with.

With my students and clients as my greatest mentors, I have created a workshop on how to support the emotional well-being of children for parents and early years teachers. This is called "The Power of Secure Attachments: Nurturing Emotional Well-being in Children", and it is based on the concepts of radical acceptance, meaningful contact, and effective communication drawn from person-centred theory, attachment theory, and neurobiology.

Building and supporting secure attachments in our early years can lay the solid foundation for developing emotional well-being and mental health for the years to come. Strong, secure relationships, meaningful contact, and effective communication will help children develop self-regulation skills and be confident to explore the world around them. Confident children who feel safe, seen, and understood in their environment become enthusiastic and curious learners with empathy for themselves and others.

In this workshop, we will explore the concepts and principles of:
-
Acceptance: What does it mean to radically accept every single child for who they are, with their unique strengths and challenges?
-
Communication: How does the brain of a young child develop, and how can we adapt our expectations and the ways we communicate with children based on the main concepts and findings of neurobiology?
-
Contact: What does a secure relationship mean, and what are the different types of attachment? How can our relational experiences develop our ability to mentalize, our ability to think our thoughts and feel our feelings?

In this workshop, you will gain a deeper understanding and increased confidence in nurturing authentic, empathetic, and resilient relationships with children. This will empower you to effectively support them on their journey of becoming and reaching their full potential emotionally, cognitively, and mentally.

The workshop is:
-
Theoretical and experiential, and can be delivered in person or online (duration: 2 hours).
-
Ideal for Inset days and staff workshop days in primary schools, nurseries, and preschools.
-
Adapted for parent group presentations to support and inform on children's emotional well-being.
-
An ideal addition to parents' open days and coffee mornings in educational settings.
